Gastronomy

The Rivière campsite in the Lot on the banks of the Dordogne invites you to discover a rich and tasty terroir which contains a good number of specialties such as truffles, foie gras, saffron, Cahors wine, Rocamadour, famous cheese making. sacred city…

And now for Gastronomy in the Lot: :
And last but not least are our famous farmers’ markets in south-west France and good places to eat out in the LOT! In the stalls of the covered local markets (there’s one in every village), you will find quality products that have been grown or reared and prepared in the traditional way.

Rediscover the real taste of strawberries and melon, Perigord walnuts, Quercy lamb, fattened duck and goose, as well as cep mushrooms, truffles and of course, ‘ROCAMADOUR’ our very own mild goat’s cheese. Honour our local producers, who are enthusiastic about what they do! Discover the excellent wines from Cahors (details at: www.vindecahors.fr ) produced in the Lot Valley. These wines have been considerably prized and improved in recent years, and they are now served in the best restaurants.

Straw Wine produced in Corrèze in the Limousin region (for example, in the vineyards of www.vindebranceilles.com ) , can also be drunk as an aperitif.

I have kept the wine from Coteaux de Glanes until last, because it is produced in Haut Quercy in the Dordogne Valley very close to Rocamadour. (More information at www.coteauxdeglanes.fr).

All these wines are the perfect accompaniment to the delectable meals available in all good restaurants in the LOT, where a group of chefs, with or without Michelin stars, create modern or traditional dishes that are always just as delicious, full of taste and flavour. Consult the www.bonnestables-lot.fr website to whet your appetite and choose your favourite addresses.

We can also recommend other restaurants that are just as remarkable, they will all appeal to you due to the quality of their cuisine as much as their affordable prices to suit everyone.

You will have guessed by now that I love this region and I would like to share it with you during your stay in the LOT, on the banks of the Dordogne River!
